CHIEF MASTER CORINA BLACK

OWNER & HEAD INSTRUCTOR

Chief Master and 8th Degree Black Belt, she has trained in the ATA since 1985 and has been a certified Black Collar Instructor since 1989. She is the Chief Instructor and owner of ATA Martial Arts of Lakewood (Lakewood, Colorado), leading the school since opening in 1990. An International Level 3 tournament judge and longtime competitor, she has hosted the Denver Gold Rush Regional Tournament for decades and continues to train with ATA leadership. She holds extensive ProTech weapons and instructor certifications, along with a finance degree from LSU and a long professional career in law firms.

MASTER JON RUNGE - 7TH DEGREE at Lakewood ATA

Mr. Runge is a Master Instructor and 7th Degree Black Belt, training in the ATA since 1994 and a Black Collar Certified Instructor since 2000. An International Level 3 tournament judge and accomplished competitor, he is known for his focus on conditioning, flexibility, protocol, and “answering up,” while keeping classes fun and traditional. He holds several ProTech certifications (including Jahng Bong, Spontaneous Knife Defense, and more), regularly trains at leadership camps and high-rank workouts, and has been a dedicated part of the Lakewood ATA family since 2003. Outside the dojang, he earned a business degree from the University of Northern Colorado and is a retired president in the waterworks industry; he lives in Golden with his family.

He is a Master Instructor and 6th Degree Black Belt, training in the ATA since 1997 and a Black Collar Certified Instructor since 2003. A Level 3 Chevron tournament judge and longtime competitor, he regularly trains at leadership camps, high-rank workouts, and national events, including ATA World Championships. He holds extensive ProTech certifications across multiple weapons and disciplines (including Jahng Bong, Ssahng Knat, Oh Sung Do, Gum Do, and more) and previously owned the Ken Caryl ATA School for 15 years.

Dr. Jeff Anderson is a 5th Degree Black Belt and Certified Instructor with the ATA, bringing over a decade of elite martial arts experience. A Doctor of Chiropractic with a background in neurobiology, he combines physical expertise with a nurturing, disciplined teaching style. He is a Level 3 Tournament Judge and active competitor. Outside the dojo, Dr. Anderson is a dedicated family man, keyboardist for "Drifting Tricky," and a proud supporter of his daughter’s color guard at Bear Creek HS.

A 4th Degree Black Belt who joined the ATA in 1977, Mr. Black is a pillar of the Songahm tradition. A former school owner and Certified Instructor, he served as a Regional Chief of Tournaments and participated in the historic 1987 Korea trip. Known for his sparring prowess and "blindfolded jump kick" breaks, he mentored Ch. Master Black in her early journey. Now a Senior Project Manager at Cognizant, he remains a vital force at the Lakewood school, specializing in combat weapon sparring.

Martial Arts Instructor & 4th Degree Black Belt Dedicated ATA martial artist since 1994 with over 30 years of experience. As a 4th Degree Black Belt and Level 2 Specialty Trainer, I’ve logged 300+ teaching hours and hold a Level 3 Chevron for tournament judging. Expertise includes specialized training in ATA Tigers and Single Ssahng Jeol Bong. Committed to legacy and rank advancement, I regularly serve the Denver Metro Area through regional seminars and judging.

Andrew Evans is a 4th Degree Black Belt and Certified Instructor with over 15 years of experience in the ATA. A seasoned competitor and Level 3 judge, he has trained under world-renowned Grand Masters. Off the mat, Andrew holds a Master’s in Computer Science from the Colorado School of Mines and is a Software Engineer at Beeper. Formerly an adjunct professor, he balances his technical expertise with a passion for martial arts, skiing, and travel.

Michael Patterson is a 4th Degree Black Belt and World Champion XMA competitor with over 25 years in the ATA. A specialist in Gum Do and XMA weapons, Michael has secured multiple world titles and state championships. Beyond the mat, he is a seasoned Software Engineer with a 30-year career at tech giants like Google and HP. Known for his signature flying side kicks and passion for teaching, he brings elite expertise to the Lakewood community as a Level 3 Instructor.

I specialize in helping adult students master technique and weapons (Gum Do) in a supportive environment. Certified Level 2 Tournament Judge and active regional/national competitor. Passionate about empowering the next generation of adult martial artists. Married with two kids.

Shonna has competed at four National tournaments and trained under Grand Masters. As a Level 1 Chevron Judge, she is dedicated to fostering a positive, encouraging environment. Her journey is a testament to family, discipline, and the pursuit of martial arts excellence at Nagina Specials.
